3. Solo Quizzes
Generating a Quiz
Once a topic has study material, you're ready to quiz yourself. On the Dashboard, find the topic card you want to study and click the Quiz button. A dialog will let you configure the quiz to fit your needs:
Number of questions. Choose 10, 15, or 20 questions per quiz.
Difficulty level. Select Easy, Medium, or Hard. Higher difficulty levels produce questions that require deeper understanding and more nuanced reasoning about the material.
Practice Mode. Toggle this on if you want a low-pressure review session. In Practice Mode, there's no scoring — you can reveal the correct answer and a detailed explanation immediately after answering each question. This is ideal for your first pass through new material.
Timed Quiz. When Practice Mode is off, you can add a countdown timer to simulate exam conditions. Choose a time limit of 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. The quiz will auto-submit when the clock runs out.
Click Generate Quiz and wait a few seconds while the AI creates your questions. A notification confirms the quiz is ready, and it appears in the Quiz History section on your topic card.
Question Types
QuizTime generates three types of questions to test your knowledge in different ways:
Multiple Choice — Select the single best answer from four options. These make up the majority of each quiz.
True/False — Evaluate whether a statement about the material is accurate or not.
Matching — Pair related items from two columns using dropdown selectors. Items you've already used are automatically disabled in other dropdowns to prevent duplicates. Matching questions appear in roughly 15% of solo quiz questions. (Note: Matching questions are excluded from multiplayer games since they aren't well-suited for the timed format.)
Every question — regardless of type — comes with a detailed explanation of the correct answer, so you learn from every question whether you got it right or not.
Taking a Quiz
From your topic card on the Dashboard, click on any quiz in the Quiz History. In-progress quizzes (marked with a clock icon and a "Start" badge) take you to the quiz page; completed quizzes (marked with a green checkmark and score percentage) go straight to the results.
The quiz interface includes a progress bar at the top showing how far along you are, a question navigator with numbered buttons to jump to any question, and the current question card. If you're in Timed Mode, a countdown timer appears in the top corner. Answered questions display a checkmark in the navigator so you can see your progress at a glance.
Answering questions is straightforward. For Multiple Choice, click an option and it highlights as your selection. For True/False, click either True or False. For Matching, use the dropdowns to pair items — a confirmation message appears once everything is matched.
Moving between questions. Use the Previous and Next buttons to step through the quiz sequentially, or click any number in the question navigator to jump directly to a specific question. You can revisit and change any answer at any time before you submit.
Practice Mode
When Practice Mode is enabled, the quiz works a bit differently. After you select an answer, a Show Answer button appears. Click it to immediately see whether your response was correct or incorrect, what the right answer is, and a full explanation. There's no final score — it's purely a learning tool.
Timed Mode
When you enable a timer, a countdown clock appears in the quiz header. As the remaining time drops below critical levels, the timer changes color to alert you. When the clock hits zero, the quiz automatically submits with whatever answers you've provided — any unanswered questions will be marked incorrect.
Submitting Your Quiz
When you reach the last question, the Next button changes to Submit Quiz.
If you've answered every question, clicking Submit sends your quiz for grading immediately. If any questions are still unanswered, a confirmation dialog will tell you exactly how many remain and warn you that unanswered questions will be marked incorrect. From there, you can choose to go back and finish, or Submit Anyway to proceed as-is.
Quiz History
Each topic card on the Dashboard shows its Quiz History underneath the action buttons. Quizzes are listed newest-first, showing the quiz number, question count, and the date and time it was created.
The status of each quiz is shown at a glance: a green checkmark with the score percentage for completed quizzes, or an amber clock with a "Start" badge for quizzes that are still in progress. Click a completed quiz to revisit its results, or click an in-progress quiz to continue taking it.
To delete a quiz, click the trash icon on the right side — a confirmation prompt will appear before anything is removed. Quizzes originally created in multiplayer mode also show a people icon that you can click to replay them as a new multiplayer game (see the Multiplayer article for details).
