6b. Teams
Creating a Team
Adults (18+) can create teams from the Your Teams tab on the Dashboard. Click Create Team, choose a name, and select the team type:
- Family — For parents and children. A child under 13 automatically receives parental consent when they join a family team.
- Classroom — For teachers and students.
Inviting Members
On the team detail page, click Invite Members to generate a shareable invite code. You can optionally set:
- An expiration time (e.g. 24 hours, 7 days)
- A maximum number of uses (e.g. 5 uses)
Share the code or link with the people you want to invite. They can join by entering the code on their Dashboard. A QR code is also generated for easy sharing.
Managing Members
On the team detail page, the owner can:
- View all members with their names, account types, plan status, and credit balances
- Remove a member by hovering over their row and clicking the remove icon
- Revoke an invite before it's been used
Joining a Team
From the Dashboard, click Join a Team and enter the invite code you received. If the code is valid and hasn't expired or reached its use limit, you'll be added to the team.
Parental Consent (Children Under 13)
Children under 13 need parental consent to use QuizTime. To provide consent:
- A parent creates a Family team
- The parent generates an invite code
- The child joins the team using the code
Once consented, the child can use the app as normal. If the child is removed from the family team, their consent is revoked and they'll lose access until a parent re-invites them.
Sponsoring Pro Access for Members
Teams are free to create and join — no subscription is required to set up a team. Team owners can individually sponsor Pro access for any member of their team.
How it works:
- From the team page, click Sponsor Pro next to any member who is on the Free plan.
- Choose between monthly or yearly billing for the sponsorship. Yearly billing offers a discount compared to monthly.
- You'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout to complete the payment.
- Each sponsored member gets their own independent Pro account with 50 credits per month.
- The owner is not counted — they are purely the billing administrator. If the owner also wants Pro credits, they need a separate personal subscription.
- Members who already have their own Pro subscription (self-paid) do not need sponsoring.
Cancelling a sponsorship — From the team page, click Cancel Sponsorship next to any sponsored member. The member keeps Pro access until the end of the current billing period, then returns to the Free plan.
Buying credits for a member — Each member row on the team page shows their credit balance. Click Buy Credits next to any member to purchase a credit pack on their behalf. The credits are applied immediately and the member receives an email notification.
