Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about QuizTime — pricing, credits, multiplayer, teams, parental consent, and more.

What is QuizTime?

QuizTime is an AI-powered study tool that transforms your notes, textbook chapters, and study materials into interactive quizzes. Simply paste your content, and our AI generates multiple choice and true/false questions to help you test your knowledge.

Is QuizTime free to use?

QuizTime has a Free plan that lets you create up to 2 topics with 1 source each and generate quizzes using 5 credits per month — at no cost. For unlimited topics, 5 sources per topic, 50 monthly credits, and topic archiving, you can upgrade to QuizTime Pro for $40 per year. A 14-day free trial is included with Pro.

What are credits and how do they work?

Credits are used each time you generate a quiz. A 10-question quiz costs 1 credit, a 15-question quiz costs 2 credits, and a 20-question quiz costs 3 credits. Free users get 5 credits per month; Pro users get 50. Credits do not roll over — unused credits expire at the end of each billing period. You can see exactly how many credits a quiz will use before you generate it.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Quiz generation is blocked when you have no credits remaining. A warning appears when you have 2 or fewer credits left. You can buy a one-time credit pack (10 credits) from the Dashboard at any time, or upgrade to Pro for a larger monthly allowance.

How does the 14-day free trial work?

When you upgrade to QuizTime Pro, you get 14 days of full Pro access with no charge. You can add a payment method at checkout, and billing begins automatically after the trial ends. Your Dashboard shows how many trial days remain. If you don't add a payment method, you'll return to the Free plan when the trial expires.

What happens if a payment fails?

If a payment fails, your account is immediately moved back to the Free plan — there is no grace period. Access is restored automatically as soon as your payment is resolved. You'll receive an email so you can update your payment method promptly.

How does team billing work?

Team subscriptions let a parent or teacher pay for Pro access for multiple members. Each purchased seat gives one team member 50 credits per month. The team owner is not counted as a seat and does not receive credits from the team subscription. Seats cost $40 per year each. Adding seats is prorated immediately; removing seats takes effect at the end of the billing period.

How many questions can I generate per quiz?

You can generate quizzes with 10, 15, or 20 questions. The AI creates a mix of multiple choice and true/false questions based on your study material.

How does multiplayer work?

A host creates a game from an existing quiz, which generates a 6-character join code. Other players enter the code to join the lobby. Once everyone is ready, the host starts the game and all players answer the same questions in real time. Scores are updated live on a leaderboard.

What file formats can I upload as study material?

You can paste text directly, provide a URL for web content extraction, or upload PDF files. The system processes these sources and combines them into study material for quiz generation.

Can I study without creating an account?

You need an account to create topics and generate quizzes. However, you can join multiplayer games without an account by entering a join code and choosing a nickname. The Help Center is also accessible without signing in.

How is my quiz score calculated?

Your score is the number of correct answers out of the total questions. After completing a quiz, you can review each question with detailed explanations to understand what you got right or wrong. You can also give the quiz a thumbs up or thumbs down to help us improve question quality.

Can I retake a quiz?

Yes, you can retake any previously generated quiz. Each attempt is tracked separately so you can monitor your improvement over time.

What difficulty levels are available?

QuizTime offers three difficulty levels: Easy, Medium, and Hard. The difficulty affects the complexity of questions generated from your study material. Medium is selected by default.

Why does QuizTime ask for my date of birth?

When you first sign in, QuizTime asks for your date of birth to determine your account type (Child, Teen, or Adult). This helps us provide the right experience for your age group and comply with children's privacy regulations like COPPA. You can update your date of birth later from your Profile page.

What are teams?

Teams let you organize people into groups. There are two types: Family teams (for parents and children) and Classroom teams (for teachers and students). Adults can create teams from the Your Teams tab on the Dashboard, generate invite codes, and manage members.

My child is under 13 — how do they get access?

Children under 13 need parental consent to use QuizTime. To provide consent, a parent or guardian must: 1) Create a QuizTime account, 2) Create a Family team from the Your Teams tab, 3) Generate an invite code and share it with the child. When the child joins the family team, their consent is automatically approved and they can start using the app.

How do I contact support?

You can reach us through the Contact Support tab on the Help Center page. Fill out the form with your question or issue, select a category, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
